When did you start practicing law as a licensed attorney?
I started practicing law in Fall 2024, after passing the Washington State Bar Exam.
What drew you to the idea of practicing law?
I had the opportunity to work closely with various attorneys in the first job I had after I graduated with my undergraduate degree. I was impressed by the dynamic nature of the work and by the combination of creative and pragmatic problem solving the practice of law requires. I chose to attend law school soon afterwards.
What is something you'd be happy doing every single day for the rest of your career?
Learning. I think the strongest attorneys are never satisfied with what they already know and continue to seek new knowledge and new perspectives even after years in practice. As a newer attorney, the amount I am able to learn and improve each day is so rewarding. I know that continuing to intentionally broaden my skillsets and horizons every day for the rest of my career will allow me to provide the best service to clients and to become the best attorney I can be.
Is it more important to maximize revenue or minimize risk?
It depends! Every client has unique priorities and a tolerance for risk that is specific to them. In my opinion, the lawyer's job is to help the client arrive at an informed and targeted solution that fits their distinct objectives and preferences, which will look different for everyone.
